Synopsis
Carson finds themselves struggling to cope following their spouse, Mav’s, cancer diagnosis. Carson spends their days teaching a second-grade class and their nights retreating into themselves and clinging to their love for Mav. They’re angry at the world and everyone knows it…
Then Daisy crashes into their life.
Her world is chaotic and uncertain, as a young Deaf girl in the foster system constantly being disrupted, shuffled from one home to the next.
But in Carson, Daisy finds someone who sees her— really sees her. And in Daisy, Carson finds a spark of hope they thought was gone forever.
Home Free is a heart-wrenching and uplifting journey of grief, connection, and finding family in the most unexpected places.

Zoey Walker is a 31-year-old trans-nonbinary filmmaker from Reno, Nevada. Currently living in New Jersey with their fiancé, Avery, and dogs, Leuven and Livi, Zoey works every day to further their knowledge and experience in the film industry.
Since beginning in the world of filmmaking, Zoey’s primary goal has been to get more queer representation on screen - especially queer characters represented by queer actors. In their film, “Trivia Night,” Zoey made a point to have a safe and inclusive set - something that crew members noted afterwards, stating that this was one of the best sets they’ve worked on.
Zoey is hearing, but received a master’s degree in counseling from Gallaudet University. They are fluent in American Sign Language and have had periods of their life where they were completely immersed in Deaf Culture.
Zoey thinks it is important to build a bridge between the hearing and deaf worlds, showing audiences that they are more alike than they are different.
